Studio collaboration

In 2018 Ekua Bayunu, founder of Global Arts Manchester, was Artist in Residency with Alexandra Park, Moss Side, as part of the Pankhurst in the Park 2018 programme initiated by Alexandra Arts. During the residency  - "Women Hold Up Half The Sky" - Ekua generously opened up her studio to women artists, including the other participants of The Travelling Heritage Bureau. In turn, artists contributed thoughts, responses and making to Ekua's project. 

The theme of the residency was an exploration and a celebration of women taking an active role in shaping our communities, from the home, to the local, national and international.

The residency launched on the 14 April and concluding on 9 June with an interactive celebration event, exhibition and sculpture installation in the park.

The Bureau is working alongside Global Arts Manchester to support and establish an open and collaborative Sky Women's Studio in Manchester for diverse women artists.
